The story

Prestigious guest castle on the banks of the Loire

The Jeanne de Laval Estate stands out from other buildings due to its character, prestige, and authenticity. This 16th-century residence was one of the first jurisdictional houses in La Bohalle. It has witnessed many chapters of history and observed the changing landscapes, without ever losing its splendor.

Today, Adeline and Benjamin welcome you and bring this little piece of Anjou's history to life! They are eager to show you around this iconic place and share the stories of Jeanne de Laval!

A noble inspiration

Your hosts decided to name this place "Domaine Jeanne de Laval." Jeanne de Laval is a major figure in the history of Anjou.

In 1454, she married René of Anjou, a poet-prince, enlightened patron of the arts, titular King of Naples, and Count of Provence. Together, they embody Anjou: its culture, its tolerance, and its love of the arts.

Jeanne de Laval is remembered as a pious, cultured woman, deeply attached to the Anjou region. She often resided in the castles of Beaufort-en-Vallée and La Ménitré.

Even today, her influence can be felt in certain places and symbols of the region.

A residence steeped in local history

At 32 Levée Jeanne de Laval, the house stands near land that attests to the levee's heavy use. "Maison de Maître La Bigottière," the former name of our prestigious guesthouse, preserves traces of a bourgeois and rural past. "Domaine Jeanne de Laval" offers our guests a taste of their stay with us, a journey through heritage, nature, and the art of living.

A place, a spirit

Our upscale guesthouse embodies the spirit of René and Jeanne's court: a place of beauty, reflection, and kindness. In every detail, we promise our guests a unique stay where the past blends seamlessly with modern comforts, in an elegant, soothing, and inspiring atmosphere. The building is listed as a listed landmark!

Some elements of the building

The property comprises a two-story manor house built of large blocks of tufa stone and two symmetrical outbuildings. You will discover a courtyard preceded by a bridge. Beyond the courtyard lies a rectangular park surrounded by a moat. The estate was once the seat of a court and later a gendarmerie, hence the presence of dungeons. Stroll through this guest house and its gardens to uncover all the secrets of the Domaine Jeanne de Laval!

And what about tomorrow?

Our upscale guesthouse on the banks of the Loire is constantly evolving! Coming soon, in 2026, we will be offering a new luxury guest room: Chambre le Roi René. We are committed to eco-friendly practices every day to preserve our little corner of paradise. We would be delighted to discuss this further with you!
